Security Bank & Trust Company

Security Bank & Trust Company , was founded in 1905, by Dr. J. L. Rainey, as Cottage Grove Bank & Trust. It is the only home owned and operated bank in Henry County. The bank began business with an authorized capital of 20,000.00. By 1909 the bank had increased its capital to $50,000.00.

The first Board of Directors was comprised of the entire list of stockholders; Dr. J. L. Rainey, W. E. Rainey, J. C. Rainey, J. P. Rainey, and J. N. Puryear. Dr. Rainey acted as President of the bank.

In 1947 J. T. Rainey, son of Dr. J. L. Rainey, was elected President of Cottage Grove Bank & Trust Company and served 30 years as President. He retired as President in 1977 and was honored as the longest serving employee of the bank with 52 years of service.

Mr. T. J. Weaver, Jr. acquired the bank in 1977 and since that time Cottage Grove Bank has seen a lot of changes. In 1979 Mr. Weaver changed the Bank's name from Cottage Grove Bank & Trust Company to Security Bank & Trust Company, and in 1980 the main operations of the bank were moved to it's newly built office at 210 West Washington Street in downtown Paris, where it remains today. Mr. Weaver retired from the bank in 1991, Mr. Weaver was followed as President by Brent Greer and Ernest Beasley.

By the end of 1986 assets of the bank had grown to over 52 million and the bank had acquired the Farmers and Merchants bank of Puryear and built the Paris Landing Branch on Hwy 79. In the next seven years Security Bank opened Mineral Well and Lakeway branches in the Paris area, and assets had grown to 85 million.

In January of 1994 renovations began on the building two doors east of the Main office, now known as The Annex, this building houses the loan offices and bookkeeping operations of the bank.

Barry P. McIntosh, Jr. was appointed President and CEO of the bank in January of 1998, as of 2008 the banks total assets were listed at $158,850,000.
